September 2014 Scouts Fish-in

On the 14th September, we supported a local scouts group by opening up The Elms to them. Some members gave up their time and donated prizes and with support from Watford Angling Coaches the scouts completed their “Angling Badge”. The event went well, 8 scouts fished plus 3 leaders. 2014 Spring Update

Please take note of the following updates: For 2014: All anglers have to be off the lake by midnight before the match day for the matches that have invited guests. Non match anglers can continue to fish on the other dates. The guest match dates are: 15th June, 3rd August, 7th September   All members are expected to attend two compulsory working parties or pay an opt out. January Newsletter and Renewals

A slightly belated Happy New Year to you all. 2013 was a busy year and there has been lots happening at The Elms. The membership changes we announced met with mixed reactions, but the majority of members understand and accept the necessity to be able to take The Elms forward. We really do want to keep The Elms as a relatively exclusive general fishery and maintain the Society in a way that reflects it’s history, (more…)

Fish Safety Measures re-introduced

Unfortunately there has been an outbreak of KHV at Billet Lane fishery at Iver run by URACS. Although the lake is not immediately near to The Elms it does illustrate how at risk all our fisheries are, and we have decided to introduce some sensible measures to minimise the risk to our fish. If you have fished Billet Lane, or any other fishery that may be effected by KHV, then please do not bring any angling (more…)

Transport for London Engineering Works

As some of members will be aware TFL will be undertaking some work on the bridge that spans the Chess close to where it enters the lake. this will start on approx 21st Oct and continue for several weeks. We have been in lengthy communication with TFL, Angling Trust, Fish Legal and the EA to ensure that risks are minimised and these works cause as little damage to the lake and its fish stock as (more…)
